Special Blend from Ahmad Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend72 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Found this at an Armenian market, $14 for 500 grams. The leaf is very dark. The brewed tea is a dark amber color. It has a slight bitterness, but to me tastes as most regular Earl Grey teas.

Classic Yunnan aroma, nice earthy/spice. Mild flavor, not acidic or sharp, slightly sweet after taste. Liquor (5 min steep) honey brown with a slight redness. For me, easy to sip. Overall, a good pick.

The aroma is very pleasant, a nice black tea with a hint of fruit (peaches). The liquor (5 min steep) is a medium brown with a bit of red. The flavor is excellent, a good strong taste, with a slight tangy after taste I would say perfect start for your morning. This tea would easily accommodate sugar or cream.

Nice mild Assam aroma, with a hint of spicy. The liquor (5 min steep) is brown/red. The flavor is a bit tart, with a smoky after taste. This tea would be fine with some cream or sugar. Overall an enjoyable tea.

Very appealing Yunnan earthiness with some spicy undertones. The liquor (5 min steep) is a red/orange brown. The flavor is smooth, with a spice/sweet after taste. I will purchase this tea again.

This is one of those uncommon tea blends that smells and tastes exactly as advertised—no hidden "flavours" (as it's spelled where sold), no surprises, no Trojan horses. That's a good thing, if you like a smoky rose tea with some fruity elements. Murchie's describes this as, "Evoking the atmosphere of a Victorian si...

Good Yunnan aroma, nice earthiness/wood. The liquor (5min steep) is a wonderful honey. Taste is a solid Yunnan, with a slight sweetness (peach?) after taste. The leaves are black and tan. I would enjoy this tea anytime during the day.

The aroma is a mild earthiness with a hint of classic Yunnan. The liquor (5min steep) is a nice amber. Mild flavor with no out standing notes. Enjoyable, but it would not be my first choice from this company.

The aroma is nice, but mild, it has the earthy with hint od spice that is expected from a Assam. The liquor (5min steep) is a pleasant deep brown. The flavor is very mild with no after taste. Certainly, a decent all day sipping tea, with nothing remarkable about the tase.

Given how much of a waste of time and steeping water Whittard's standard Earl Grey was, expectations for this version ran low. What a pleasant surprise instead!

Here's another box of this brand that I got overpriced at a Black Hills souvenir store. Like the others, the bags are both small and underfilled, docking the "value" category, despite this being a decent-tasting blend.
The dry-bag aroma came across as a disjointed melange of a lot of stuff, much akin to the "unde...

I've only chugged one other green tea of the Mao Feng type (a Tazo bagged offering), and enjoyed that, so I figured I'd try a bigger-leaf, sacheted version. This is one of the best green teas I've had, lots of personality, and mostly worth the slight premium one pays when shoveling a stack of bills across the counter ...

Whittard has a single-sourced English Breakfast by name (from West Java), and an entirely different tea more of the traditional EB style—this one—composed of Ceylon and Kenya teas. Unlike the named EB, I couldn't find Festive Breakfast on Whittard's website, but instead, got it as part of a gift assortment.

This is a pleasant EG, but very much on the lighter side. There is not a lot of bergamot flavor, and the tea is a little thin - but it makes a perfectly enjoyable cup. I would recommend this to someone who likes a mild Earl Grey.

As much Murchie's tea as I've ordered, chugged and rated, and as strongly as I love peppermint, this was only a matter of time. This has a little lavender flavor plus a lot in the potpourri-like aroma, and there is plenty of bergamot too. With lemon or lime and sugar, it has a candied orange peel flavor. I preferred it with milk and sugar, which is a little more subtle. A good change of pace from the usual Earl Grey.

This was my least favorite of the 3 holiday-spice-cookie teas that I got from Culinary. It tastes somewhat like gingerbread, but it could use some more sweetness and spice. I had it with almond milk, and it is possible that had a negative effect on the taste.

Served with milk and sugar, this really tastes just like a Christmas cookie (i.e. a sugar cookie with sprinkles). This is a very successful attempt at duplicating/translating a flavor from a baked item to a tea. It is made with calendula, jasmine, cinnamon, and cocoa, but mostly I taste buttery vanilla cookies (with ...

I will always give a flavored Earl Grey a try; sometimes they are very impressive, sometimes not. It is interesting to see how the teamakers alter the EG formula - I have had them with lavender, chocolate, rose, and vanilla, maybe others too. This Baroness adds lemon, cornflower, and rose along with the bergamot (and...

Two background caveats here:
1. I'm not a big fan of overt rose scent in beverages; something about drinking common garden flowers that I've cultivated, like rose, marigold or lavender, still seems weird to me (even though I do like jasmine tea...go figure!).
2. I haven't had rose congou tea from China yet, for com...

I am trying out a new tea provider that I saw here on RateTea - Culinary, and so far I am happy with them. I like that they sell tea by the ounce, so that a customer can purchase as much as he likes. Looking over the large ingredients list for a loose tea (Keemun and Ceylon tea, cinnamon, ginger, fennel, cocoa nibs, cardamom seeds, roasted carob, Indian sarsparilla root, natural and artificial flavors), it seemed a little disjointed. I wasn't sure this was going to work. I'll assure that it does, very nicely.
